1.) What were Edward and Daniel's inspirations behind creating the West-Eastern Divan?
2.) How many people participate in the Orchestra? Will this number grow in the future? It seems like having more people involved would lead to greater participation, and ultimately help in breaking down the barriers the Arab-Israeli conflict imposes.

Both Barenboim and some of the girls in the Orchestra said they don't think this is the solution. But to me, it seems like projects can change the minds of young people, who then eventually become leaders of divided countries. Where do some of these young people end up after their time performing with the Orchestra? How do you think their experience playing music with people of the "other" identity influences their daily life after they are done playing with the Orchestra?
ReplyDeleteYou are involved with several different groups and councils. What do you want to accomplish? If music isn't the answer to the conflict, what is the foundation aiming to accomplish? Also, what's an average day in your life like? Where do you travel most? Where do you consider home?
