Identity: A Constant Through the Conflict


We want to look at what people use and do to create an identity for themselves. Through the conflict, there is always something that people hold on to that they can call their own. That's what we want to look at. 

PEOPLE –
·      How can identities through sport/dress/etc. change the next generation?
·      Identity different peoples of Jerusalem
·      Use images and music – but MUST use more than this for project
·      How do people cross the boundary using these things?
·      IF we are doing people – we HAVE to account for all the peoples in Jerusalem
·      Dress/Sport – think about narrowing and pick a couple to focus on
·      PARKOUR! In Jerusalem. COOL.
·      Different cultural things going on the city – need to have an umbrella that encompasses all of these things

Questions to think about:
·      How can sport/dress help bring people together?
·      How do they keep people apart? (Make it easier to tell each other apart)
·      Make a tapestry not a melting pot – keep your identity but accept other cultures
·      Does making an example (like the school in the video) reinforce the ideas of difference? Does it have a reverse affect?
